I didn't let Windows search for it automatically. I've loaded the
USB driver on dozens of other Windows machines with no issues. If you
really don't believe me would you believe me if I loaded up SBS 2008 in
a virtual box and filmed the error with my cell phone? I probably have
a copy of it in my pile of old CDs somewhere.
SBS 2008 _is_ different from regular Server 2008. In regular Server
2008 you go into System and it displays "Windows Server 2008" In SBS
2008 you go into System and it displays "Windows Server Standard FE"
The "Fe" stands for Foundation Edition, or Fragging Evil, take your
Most people who are not Windows system admins really don't have much
understanding of Small Business Server. Like you they think that SBS
is just another version of Windows Server. SBS is an old product that
has been around for some time now. The earlier versions of SBS heavily
modified the operating system to support the SBS GUI. The later
versions used a lot of behind-the-scenes scripting and didn't mod the
OS that much. In fact in SBS 2011 the components of SBS take the same
operating system security patches as the regular server.
If you don't want to fix the bug that's fine. But please
don't sit there denying it exists.
