Mac Binary 3.14.14: Problems with APC SMT750i FW 09.3 under Yosemite/El Capitan

Thomas Thaler
Dear Readers

Hopefully some Mac users do read this or the developer of the Mac binary.

I have the problem, that I can’t get the apcupsd setup and run on Mac Mini under Yosemite with APC SMT750i FW 09.3.
Did some one get this setup  or with some other SMT Models, up and running?
Why do all the test work, like „Simulated Power Fail Test“ and „System Shutdown Test“ but not the final „Full Power Down Test“?
Even the "Test kill UPS power“ with the apctest does work.

I’m totally lost in „space of bits & bytes“ as I only have some few days left to test before I have to decide whether I buy the APC or not.

Thank you in advance for anyones help and suggestions to figure out, what’s wrong with the setup.
Kind regards
Thomas

Dear Thomas,
it is recommended to use the MODBUS protocol with a SMT750i.
See e.g.
http://apcupsd-ups-control-software.10985.n7.nabble.com/Support-for-APC-Smart-UPS-SMT750I-td9578.html
"Without Modbus, the SMT750I would need a AP9620 'Legacy' card to provide a upslink interface that for full usage with apcupsd."

Regards
Wolfgang

Re: Mac Binary 3.14.14: Problems with APC SMT750i FW 09.3 under Yosemite/El Capitan

Thomas Thaler
Dear Wolfgang

Thank you for your feedback and response.
I was able to do a last short test today with the mentioned changes in settings to activate "MODBUS" in the config file as well as on the APC SMT75i itself.

Mainly it stays the same as before.
Except I sah less and different possible test steps then before AND I was able to execute ALL those tests successfully.

The problem that in the real life test, that the APC doesn't get the shut down command from the Mac before he itself shuts down ist still existing.

But as I don't have the APC SMT750i anymore for further tests I just wanted to let you all know about this but I'm no more able to run any further test on my side.

Thank you again.
Regards
Thomas
